Last night i went to see Ice Age 3 in 3D, I was really looking forward to it, as I love animations, and I liked the first two Ice Age movies. Add to that I even search the world to find out where the latest 3D movies are playing is another good sign that I would love this movie.

3D is very new in my city, and the only place I ever got the chance to watch 3D cinema was In Bangkok, where on every trip i always went hunting for it.

But I have to say I was disappointed, yes it was an ok movie, I didn’t hate it, but as with most part 3′s, Lion King and Shrek being other fine examples, I think the writers had already used all their best jokes in the first 2 of the series.

This was totally pointless as 3D movie, with 3D i expect things flying at me and giving me that extra experience, this had nothing of any note at all, just another 4$ to the price of the ticket really.

I would not like to discourage anybody to go to see it, as it is still better than most of the rubbish produced these days, but for what i expected from this movie, it really was almost putting me to sleep.

Wow, after all the hype and reading about people expecting this movie to be the best movie of the year, I was really looking forward to it, after all i do enjoy this style of movie, and the concept seemed interesting.

I was very disappointed, in fact it could almost be rated as 3 hrs of living hell waiting for it to finish. I am not sure what all these other people that expected so much of this movie, think now they have seen it, I didn’t go to any forums or review sights to check, but honestly, if they are claiming to still love it, then they are fooling themselves, maybe desperately wanting to believe the thing they looked forward to so much was really worth their time. But it wasn’t, it was crap, total rubbish from start to end.

The whole plot went no where, it was shallow and pointless, the romance they tried to add had nothing to grip you or make you feel any type of emotion towards the characters involved, the special effects were like 2004, some student who just learned the latest technologies still practicing.

I was sitting in the movie counting time, and time just wasn’t moving, how the Director figured this rubbish needed to go on and on for 3 hrs is beyond me. The only possible explanation is that this movie was really made for a social experiment, to see how long humans can withstand torture.

After it finished, the big crown in the theater all kind of silently looked at each other , stunned, disappointed, not sure if it is polite to say “what a load of shite”.

Anyway, I am glad it is over, and will definitely put it in as one of the worst movies i have had the displeasure to endure. I am sure there are millions of far worse movies, but the fact this one went on for 3 hrs, and that they somehow paid enough to the media to hype it up to huge expectation, just gets them a dud rating from me.

Well I already expected a good movie, after all for an art house, non American, budget movie to even be nominated for awards it usually has to be pretty decent.

I loved it, I have to disclaim that I am not a fan of Hollywood movies, in fact I doubt I would be able to name one in my top 10 all time, So this type of movie is more my style, The last great art house movie I watched was “Kite Runner” which I saw on a flight between New Zealand and Thailand, that movie was simply fantastic and i went to buy the dvd just for keeps sake.

“Slumdog Millionaire” was not as good over all, I actually was a little disappointed about 75% through the movie, it just wasn’t living up to my expectations, and wow, I couldn’t believe how easy the questions were towards the money part of the game compared to the English version, realistic ?? I think maybe not.

The end of the movie really tied it up though, and for a romantic movie it really was well planned, i am not usually a fan of romance, maybe “Sweet November” the only one I can think of that i truly love, but this movie was another I can say i ended up enjoying a great deal.

One thing I have learned about arty movies is to never make a judgement until you have watched to the end, this certainly fits that reasoning.

It was better than “Revolutionary Road” , but they were were well worth going to see.

Can’t wait to see “The Reader” now, as I have very high expectations, I fully expect it to be better than both of them, but i guess I will just have to wait and see about that.

I would advise “Slumdog Millionaire” to everyone to see, anyone who loves Hollywood movies will be blown away by art house movies of this quality.

I just got home from the movies, went to see Revolutionary Road. It was pretty good, kind of slow drama, but two fantastic actors managed to keep it alive. I did find myself wondering when it was going to end, but as with most slow drama’s you don’t realize it is good until it finally finishes and you can escape the theatre, it is only then you think back in the freedom of your own world that you decide it was actually a pretty decent story.

The psycho called John was a dead set funny dude and a great asset to the story, pity he was used so sparingly, but maybe any more and it would have killed the buzz. I am not going to talk about the story line or anything like that, just want to let you guys know it is worth the dollars to see it, and it isn’t only because I am a huge Kate Winslet fan.

It was just the pre-movie set up as i am anxiously waiting to see “Slumdog Millionaire” starting tomorrow, and another Kate Winslet move called “Reader”.
